Will TA-65 rejuvenate an aging brain?
There are two ways that TA can potentially enhance brain health and function.
For many cell types that have been tested, we know that the TA-65 molecule can activate Telomerase. There are many examples of telomerase activation having a positive effect on cells (such as greater ability to divide and produce normal cells that resist stress and contribute to healthy tissue). What we don't know is if TA-65 will pass the blood/brain barrier and actually get into the neurons of the brain. We are now testing cognitive function in individuals who are on the Patton Protocol. How well one's brain functions is what people are interested in and we expect to have results late in 2007 that will show the effect of TA-65 on cognitive function.
Vascular health is critical to brain function. Without proper blood flow, brain cells are deprived of needed oxygen and nutrients. Our testing has confirmed that people ingesting our capsules have TA-65 circulating in the blood. We believe that TA-65 in the plasma will aid vascularization and help rejuvenate aged blood vessels, but we have not yet devised the appropriate tests required to definitively answer this question. In the published scientific literature, introducing telomerase into aged endothelial cells helps these cells to divide, helps restore normal responses to growth factors, and helps them to form proper new blood vessels when implanted into mice with vascular deficits. Endothelial cells are the cells that line the inside of all blood vessels. They are critical to proper blood flow, prevention of clots, and transfer of nutrients to tissues.**
